Matthias Unruh was born in Hamburg in 1959. He first studied philosophy and free painting, was co-founder of several Hamburg music bands and worked as an assistant director for Alfred Vohrer at the1. Relay of the Schwarzwaldklinik (Black Forest Clinic). He then began his acting training at the Stage School of Dance and Drama Hamburg. He worked at the Thalia Theater, the Staatstheater Kassel (State Theatre Kassel) and the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen (Ruhr Festival Recklinghausen). At the Theater Kiel he played Willy Lohman in TOD EINES HANDLUNGSREISENDEN, Peachum in the DREIGROSCHENOPER and Giesecke in DAS WEISSE RÖSSL. At the Theater Lübeck he could be seen in 2016 as Butt in MARZIPANPIRATEN. Matthias Unruh is also known as a narrator for numerous reports and documentaries, as well as from various television roles, such as Eigener Herd ist Goldes wert (Own Stove is worth gold) on NDR, Die Schwarzwaldklinik (Black Forest Clinic) on ZDF, Morden im Norden on NDR and Notruf Hafenkante on ZDF. In 2012 he appeared in the cinema as Vlad in the film ROULETTE. He also wrote the script and music for the musical FRANÇOIS VILLON.
